Look what I got in the mail today! It’s the Winter 2014 issue of Modern Patchwork (Interweave Press/F&W Media). This is the first time I have the chance to actually flip through this magazine. It is filled with inspiring patchwork projects, all with a modern aesthetic.
I have a pot holder project in it. I got them back a few weeks ago, but I was waiting to write this post to see the actual magazine. It is always fun to see how they pictured the project.
The idea behind the design was to make some abstract flowers with simple patchwork and to accentuate it with the quilting. This is why I named them Petals Patchwork Pot Holders. Again, I’ve used only solids (except for the back) and played with value.
Update: The winner of the magazine is comment number 6 by lattegirl40.
This is a great magazine. I'd use bright greens with more muted tones in my kitchen, since it is mostly white with some vintage green pendant lights. Thanks.
Wow … tu es plus que productive Josée! Vraiment joli encore une fois, très graphique. J'aime beaucoup. Pour ma cuisine le rouge serait à l'honneur. Par contre j'aime beaucoup ton dégradé d'orange. Ça ferait un très beau "mug rug" pour ma sœur dont la cuisine est orange. Merci!
Love the backing on your potholders, too. For me, blue and white. Easy, right? thanks!
I would make it in blues and yellows, my favorite colors! Thanks for a chance to win. Karen M.
Those are great looking potholders! For my kitchen, I'd make something in red, maybe with black and white accents.

I would do blues…with the grey. thanks for a chance!
beautiful! and congratulations, must be amazing to see you work in print!! I still haven't pulled a colour into my kitchen, but I think I am leaning towards apple green!! love that colour, but I also love fall reds, and that is why I still have no colour in my kithchen!! lol
love your mod flowers! great colors too! i would put fresh spring greens in my kitchen.
I would make mine in various shade of turquoise and grey. They are stunning and I love how the quilting seems to give them movement!
